　「ブンガワン・ソロ」は有名なインドネシアの歌で、インドネシア・ジャワ島中部を流れる「ソロ川」を意味してる。1940年ごろにグサン・マルトハルトノによって作曲されアジアで広く歌われるようになった。日本でも戦後間もなくから知られるところとなり、音楽の教科書にも掲載されている。

　この吹奏楽編曲は、シンガポールのウェスト・ウィンズのために編曲し2010年6月にエスプラネードホールで初演された。「ブンガワン・ソロ」のメロディがさまざまなスタイルに変奏されていく。

　　Begawan Solo is a famous Indonesian song about the Solo River, which flows through central and eastern Java, Indonesian. It was written in 1940 by Gesang Martohartono (1917-2010), and became popular in Asia, especially in Japan since the end of World War Ⅱ. This song is also printed in the Japanese music textbook. 

　　This arrangement is in the form of variations. It was commissioned by West Winds, band of the Bukit Batok Community Club, Singapore, dedicated to their patron Mr. and Mrs. Johnson Liew of the Bengawan Solo Pte Ltd. The song was premiered on March 6^th 2010 at the Esplanade Concert Hall, Singapore.
